Project Spotlight: Florida Aquarium
Florida Aquarium had become a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the Tampa Bay area. However, the facility had a very outdated look. Upon taking the reigns as Director of Operations, Pete Colangelo (former KSC Visitors Complex director) decided to employ Art-Kraft once again in an effort to re-vamp the Aquariums look. Art-Kraft constructed several new aquarium displays, as well as interior wayfinding signs to reflect Florida Aquarium's new animated guided tour.

Each display was painstakingly constructed to fit around existing tanks and other features within the aquarium. Extra care was used to ensure that the specimens were not disturbed during the installation.

Art-Kraft was then tasked with the design of their new entry sign located above the main entrance of the Aquarium. The project called for a "water ripple" effect, as well as a sign that is legible from a distance. Power issues & budget prevented the use of a large format message center, so Art-Kraft's designers began to research other avenues. The design team decided use an array of LED lights run from a programmable dimmer pack. These lights would be cast through a semi-transparent arched background to produce a water ripple effect.

Mounted on projecting rods were 4 1/2 foot tall LED illuminated channel letters. The entire 35' long display was built as one structure in our Palm Bay facility, then transported across state for installation. The final result was a magnificent display that complemented the aquarium's new look, along with an extremely happy customer.
